Are you fascinated by the vast expanse of space and the mysteries of our universe, but never found the time to learn about it? Well, now is the perfect opportunity to discover more about our amazing cosmos!
Perth Observatory has a 5-week introductory course on space and astronomy, covering a range of topics such as ancient astronomy, the Solar System, telescopes, space exploration and the life cycle of stars. Led by our experienced STEM Coordinator, Jenny Gull, you’ll have the chance to learn from an expert in the field.
Each week we’ll delve deeper into a different aspect of the universe, with engaging presentations and interactive Q&A sessions. You’ll also have the chance to get hands-on experience with telescopes and equipment to observe the night sky.
There is optional homework associated with this course, along with handouts of relevant data, diagrams and references. At the end of the course, participants will receive a special certificate from Perth Observatory.

To make a booking on the Astronomy 101 Course, simply enter the number of people attending and select the desired date from the booking calendar. Dates with green backgrounds indicate available spots, while red backgrounds denote fully booked tours and yellow highlights today’s date.
Once you have selected your desired tour date, click the “Book Now” button to proceed to the checkout section, where you can complete your payment. You will receive a confirmation email once your booking is complete, and on the night of the tour, our host will ask for the name under which the booking was made and mark you off on the booking sheet.
